The Bichon Frise is a small, sturdy, white powder puff of a dog. Its well-plumed tail is carried jauntily over the back. The Bichon's plush white coat is non-shedding, non-allergenic, and odorless. The eyes are black and round exhibiting inquisitive, alert expression. The height at the shoulder is between 9 and 12 inches, and the weight, between 8 and 12 pounds. Bichons are intelligent, playful and affectionate. A cheerful attitude is the hallmark of the breed. The Bichon Frise arrived in the United States in 1956 and was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1973. The Bichon has increasingly gained popularity because of infinite, positive traits making the Bichon known as "THE TOTAL PACKAGE".
